WhatsApp Coexistence
Use your existing WhatsApp Business App and Wadwin together on the same number — without disconnecting or migrating your account.
What is WhatsApp Coexistence?
WhatsApp Coexistence is a feature from Meta that lets you connect your existing WhatsApp Business App number to the WhatsApp Cloud API — and therefore to Wadwin — while continuing to use the WhatsApp Business App on your phone at the same time.
This means your team can reply to customers in Wadwin (with automation, multi-agent access, and analytics) while you or other staff continue using the familiar WhatsApp Business App — all on the same number.
Why use Coexistence?
No migration risk
Continue using your WhatsApp Business App as normal — no account deletion or transfer required.
Gradual transition
Test Wadwin's automation and reporting features before fully moving to the Cloud API.
Team collaboration
Multiple teammates can reply in Wadwin while others stay in the WhatsApp app.
Import chat history
Bring in up to 6 months of existing conversations and contacts into Wadwin.
Limitations to be aware of
- Coexistence is only available in selected countries — check with Meta before proceeding
- Not compatible with WhatsApp Marketing Message Lite API
- Only one-to-one chats from the last 6 months can be imported — group chats are excluded
- If you don't open the WhatsApp Business App for more than 14 days, the connection may expire
- Some advanced WhatsApp Business App features may be unavailable after connecting
How to connect via Coexistence
Open the Wadwin onboarding wizard
Go to Wadwin → Onboarding and select "Keep using your WhatsApp Business App (Coexistence)" when choosing your connection method.
Sign in to Facebook
A Meta pop-up will appear. Sign in with the personal Facebook account that has Full Access rights in your Meta Business Portfolio. Click "Get started" to proceed.
Select your Business Portfolio and confirm details
Choose the Meta Business Portfolio associated with your WhatsApp Business App number. Confirm your business name, website, and country, then click Next.
Select 'Connect your existing WhatsApp Business App'
When asked how to connect, choose "Connect your existing WhatsApp Business App". Enter the phone number registered in your WhatsApp Business App and click Next.
Scan the QR code on your phone
A QR code will appear on your screen. On your phone, open the WhatsApp Business App and look for a message from Facebook. Tap into the conversation and tap Connect.
Choose whether to share chat history
You'll be asked if you want to import your existing chat history into Wadwin. Select "Share all chats" to import conversations from the last 6 months.
Assign imported contacts
Choose a team member or team to assign newly imported contacts to. This ensures every contact has an owner and conversations don't get lost. You can reassign them later from the Contacts page.
You're connected!
Your WhatsApp Business App number is now connected to Wadwin. Contacts and chat history will sync in the background. You can track sync progress in the Background Activity section.
Best practices for Coexistence
- Open your WhatsApp Business App at least once every 14 days to keep the connection active
- Assign imported contacts to a team member so no conversation gets lost
- Monitor the Background Activity tab to confirm sync completion
How to disconnect
To disconnect your Coexistence channel, you must do so from the WhatsApp Business App on your phone:
- Open the WhatsApp Business App on your phone
- Go to Settings → Account → Business Platform (or "Connected platform")
- Tap the connected platform and follow the on-screen steps to disconnect
