Migrate from another provider
Transfer your WhatsApp Business API number from another Business Solution Provider (BSP) — such as Twilio, 360dialog, or WATI — to Wadwin.
What gets migrated?
What carries over
- Your phone number
- Quality rating
- Approved high-quality message templates
- Official Business Account status (green tick)
- Display name
- Messaging tier / limit
What does NOT migrate
- Chat history
- Low quality, rejected, or pending templates
- Contacts from your previous provider
- Automations or flows from your previous provider
Before you start — mandatory checklist
- A personal Facebook account with Full Access rights in your Meta Business Portfolio
- Your Meta Business Portfolio must have Facebook Business Verification status of "Verified"
- Your phone number must be active and able to receive a verification code via SMS or call
- Turn off 2-step verification in WhatsApp Manager before starting — this is required by Meta
- Note your current WhatsApp display name — you'll need to enter it exactly as-is
Expect ~5–10 minutes of downtime during the migration. Inbound messages will not be received during this window. Plan your migration for a low-traffic period.
Migration steps
Turn off 2-step verification in WhatsApp Manager
In WhatsApp Manager , select your phone number → Settings → Two-step verification → Turn off.
This step is mandatory. Meta will not allow migration if 2-step verification is active.
Open the Wadwin onboarding wizard
Go to Wadwin → Onboarding and select "Migrate from another provider" when choosing your connection method.
Sign in to Facebook and select your Business Portfolio
A Meta pop-up will appear. Sign in with the personal Facebook account that has Full Access rights in the same Meta Business Portfolio as your existing WhatsApp Business API account. Select that portfolio and click Next.
Create a new WhatsApp Business Account in Wadwin's portfolio
When prompted, choose "Create a WhatsApp Business Account". Give it an internal name and select your timezone. This creates a new WABA under Wadwin's Meta Business Solution Partner account.
Enter your phone number and verify
Enter the same phone number you used with your previous provider. Choose SMS or phone call verification and enter the 6-digit code. Your number will be transferred to the new WABA automatically.
Enter your credentials in Wadwin
After the Meta flow completes, copy your new WABA ID, Phone Number ID, and Access Token from the Meta Developer Portal and paste them into Wadwin's connection form. Click Connect WhatsApp Number.
Verify everything is working
Send a test WhatsApp message to your number to confirm inbound messages are arriving in Wadwin. Re-enable 2-step verification in WhatsApp Manager if desired.
After migration
- Re-create any automations or flows in Wadwin — these do not transfer from your previous provider
- Import your contacts manually via CSV if needed (Contacts → Import)
- Your approved message templates will be available in Wadwin's Template Manager
- Use a System User token for a permanent, never-expiring access token
